“Tapping into the dynamism of 21st century youth and their appetite for new ideas, the Emirates Foundation seeks to support youth initiatives that can create real and sustainable social change. We are committed to supporting the energy of youth in order to transform societies, communities and economies through new ways of thinking. The Emirates Award for Arabian Gulf Youth aims to support, motivate and unleash our young people’s social entrepreneurship potential and to establish long-term enterprises which are capable of creating real, positive and sustainable social impact in the lives of youth in this region.”

About the Award

The Emirates Foundation is pleased to announce the fourth round of the Emirates Award for the Arabian Gulf Youth for 2019, a window of opportunity to find better ways of addressing social challenges.

Launched under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation and Chairman of Emirates Foundation, the Emirates Award for the Arabian Gulf Youth is a social enterprise competition initiated by Emirates Foundation, managed under Kafa'at program with the aim to foster a culture of entrepreneurship, in line with the National Entrepreneurship Strategic Plan and the Foundation’s socially driven mission by encouraging youth to develop innovative solutions and social enterprises that address society’s most pressing challenges. The award is open to UAE Nationals and Gulf nationals residing in the UAE, between the ages of 18 and 35, and are attracted to the idea of using profit for social good.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

All ideas and projects that meet the criteria will be considered. To check if your idea is eligible for the award, you should be able to answer the following key questions:

IS YOUR IDEA UNIQUE?

Ideas must be FRESH, NEW and have not been delivered or implemented before

IS YOUR IDEA INNOVATIVE?

Ideas must identify innovative solutions to tackle social problems

CAN YOUR IDEA BE MEASURED?

Ideas must show strong potential for significant, meaningful impact on the community

IS YOUR IDEA FINANCIALY SUSTAINABLE?

Ideas must have the potential to deliver products and services to the market at a price that covers expenses and generates profit

CAN YOUR IDEA BE SCALED?

Ideas must show potential for expanding their scope and size

IS YOUR IDEA UNIQUE?

A social enterprise is a business whose sole purpose is to develop an innovative solution that can be implemented on a large scale, to a social problem. It is different from a non-profit organization or a charity in that the solution is usually in the form of a product or service which can generate surplus income. This income can then be used to expand the business’s reach and improve the product or service in ways which enhance its social mission.

The award is open to all GCC nationals and residents of the United Arab Emirates , between the ages of 18 and 35, and are attracted to the idea of using profit for social good.

After registering and setting up a profile, participants can manage their project, members, and documents before previewing and sending the application along with a short video submission not exceeding 3 minutes.

The 3 winning groups will be receiving financial Prizes. The first place will win an amount of AED 70,000, the second place will win an amount of AED 50,000 & the third place will win an amount of AED 25,000

Mentorship for the first prize winner by Young Arab Leaders

One year membership with waived cost of all service such as ( participating in International and local exhibitions and trade missions, attending specialized local and overseas training courses , easy access to federal Government tenders, office space for 3 months by the National Program for SMEs & Projects by the Ministry of Economy
